Meet the Doctor

Giancarlo DiMassa, MD MSHS is a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician. He graduated cum laude from Georgetown University where he double majored in Biology and English. After working for a year in basic science, studying heart cells, he enrolled at UCLA School of Medicine (now the David Geffen School of Medicine). He graduated with Honors from medical school in 2001 and then moved to Harbor UCLA for his residency in Emergency Medicine which he completed in 2004. After completing his residency in Emergency Medicine and becoming a Board Certified ER Physician, Dr. DiMassa was named a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar and went back to school (if you can believe it) for two more years at UCLA. There he obtained his MSHS (Master of Science in Health Services) from the Fielding School of Public Health and studied complex health systems. He has also enjoyed educating medical students and residents and has held teaching positions at USC, UC Irvine and UCLA over the past 20 years.

In 2016, Dr. DiMassa became the Assistant Medical Director of one of the busiest Emergency Rooms in the United States. In 2023, he became the Chairman of that Emergency Department. In 2024, after a career full of giving back to Emergency Medicine, Dr. DiMassa was named a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

In 2020, as Covid kept many patients away from the ER, Dr. DiMassa started to help patients through Telemedicine. He has loved reaching patients across the country and helping them through simple and complex issues. Because of his passion for caring for patients, Dr. DiMassa has become one of only a few physicians in the United States to be licensed by every single state medical board. He has also pursued new interests through telehealth. As GLPs have transformed the landscape of medical care, Dr. DiMassa became a member of the Obesity Medical Association in 2023.

Dr. DiMassa has authored many articles and book chapters. He has given countless lectures across the country. When he is not online helping patients or in the ER, he enjoys being with his wife and two sons, reading Sci Fi and playing pickleball.

Dr. DiMassa is licensed in all 50 states, making it easy for you to seek his help no matter where you are in the U.S.
